What is myopia?

Myopia is an eye condition to which the child is having difficulty in looking at objects from a distance. This means that his or her eyeball might be a little bit smaller than the normal size; or that the cornea is slightly too curved.

What makes myopia?

The light rays that should be focused directly on the retina of an eye is ‘misplaced’ and instead it is focused in front of the retina. The light entering the eyes isn’t correct so this explains the blurry vision when things are at a distance. Most progressive myopic individuals got it from the genes; the parents in this case. An undiagnosed myopia could get worse if the child keeps reading or using the phone or other gadgets at a close proximity.

The eye develops from birth and as Myopia starts at a young age it progresses gradually. If not treated at an early level, it could get worst in time.
